What to expect in therapy
Psychotherapy sessions with me is a collaboration of minds, working together to achieve your end goal. I approach our working relationship with an open mind, transparency and the utmost respect for your decision to work through your difficulties.
It can be daunting to think about and search for the right counsellor/psychotherapist for your needs: sometimes you may wish to talk about something which you find uncomfortable and have not disclosed before. You may wonder how a counsellor/psychotherapist will respond to you; you may fear being judged, worry whether they will be able to help or not: so many things to worry about and consider.
My aim, from our first meeting is to minimise these fears and anxieties as we get to know and learn from each other.
Your initial session is an opportunity for you to see if you would want to continue with me. Sometimes you might want to think about before committing to more therapy, alternatively you might have made your decision during the first session and arrange for ongoing therapy sessions with me.
The initial session also gives me an opportunity to see if I feel that I can help you.
We would meet weekly on Skype or Zoom, on the same day and time. Your 50 minutes sessions are where you can talk about whatever is on your mind at any given moment.
Psychotherapy lasts as long as you feel you need it to. We can also agree on short-term sessions, such as 6 weeks if that is more suitable for you.
